Some sandals are stamped out by the thousands. Others take a little longer. Welcome to the Uniteds Signature, a curated line of handmade sandals for men and women, hand-finished in our Kolkata workshop and priced so you don't have to spend ₹2,000 or more to own a genuinely crafted pair.
This is where our master finishers add the details a machine can't, a hand-set embellishments on the Glitz Sparkle sliders, real embroidery on the ethnic juttis, and careful thread work on the luxury mules. We use durable PVC and PU soles as the foundation, then build the craft on top: sequin work, glitter finishing, contrast piping, and hand-adjusted strap placements. The result is 17 carefully considered pairs priced from ₹379 to ₹949, covering ethnic occasion wear, comfort flats, party-ready wedges, and daily-wear slides. If you've been searching for handmade, India-made and actually affordable sandals, this is the collection worth bookmarking. Sizes 4 to 9, delivered pan-India, with the same return support as our main lines.
Uniteds is operated by United Foot Care Private Limited from 32B Rabindra Sarani in Kolkata, one of India's oldest footwear-making neighbourhoods. The signature line is where we let our craftspeople do what mass production can't. Every pair in this collection passes through a hand-finishing stage: embellishments placed by hand, embroidery secured with proper stitch depth, glitter and sequin work sealed to hold up through actual wear, not just the first outing.
The philosophy is straightforward. Handmade footwear in India is usually priced somewhere between ₹1,500 and ₹5,000 because of layered supply chains and one workshop makes the sole, another handles the upper, a third does embroidery, and a fourth resells to a retailer. Uniteds runs every stage in-house, which is why we can land handmade sandals at ₹379 to ₹949 without cutting corners on the craft itself. What you're paying for is materials plus real handwork and not the middlemen.
The collection is deliberately mixed with mostly women's and a small men's range because the handmade craft translates most vividly on ethnic and occasional styles. Here's how to navigate it.
Handmade Sandals for Women
Fifteen SKUs across four occasion tiers:
Handmade Sandals for Men
Two SKUs are currently in the signature line, both priced at ₹399:
The men's range in this line is deliberately smaller, most of our men's inventory sits in the broader Men's Sandals collection. The two above are the handmade-craft variants.
Handmade doesn't have to mean fragile or fussy. Here's what actually distinguishes the Uniteds signature line from a machine-made equivalent:
The typical price of handmade sandals in India runs from ₹1,500 to ₹5,000, sometimes much higher on designer platforms. Multi-step supply chains are the reason. Uniteds runs a direct-manufacturer model: source materials, hand-finish in our Kolkata workshop, and ship them straight to you. That single-chain approach is why the signature line sits at ₹379 to ₹949 while offering genuine handwork.
For most Indian buyers, this matters practically. A wedding season, a festival cycle, or a job that requires ethnic-appropriate footwear for family functions can easily need three or four pairs for occasions. Spending ₹6,000 to ₹15,000 on handmade footwear for a single wardrobe rotation isn't feasible for most households. Spending ₹2,000 to ₹3,000 across three well-crafted pairs is.
The signature collection is built for the calendar most Indian women (and a few men) actually navigate:
Handmade doesn't mean high-maintenance, but embellished pieces do reward a little routine care:
Follow these six steps and a ₹525 pair of ethnic juttis routinely lasts across two or three festival seasons.
You've read the story, seen the range, and understood what the ₹379 to ₹949 pricing actually buys. Now pick the pair for your next occasion like a wedding, a festival, a family function, or a well-earned everyday upgrade. Shop the Uniteds signature handmade collection and let the handwork speak for itself. Delivered pan-India, direct from our Kolkata workshop.
PU (polyurethane) sandals use a moulded polyurethane sole and footbed instead of rubber or EVA. PU is lightweight, shock-absorbing and flexible, which makes it well suited to long hours of daily wear in Indian heat and humidity. Uniteds PU sandals are built for commuting, office use and everyday errands.
Because we manufacture in-house. Most handmade footwear passes through 3–5 supply layers before reaching the buyer, each adding markup. Our model source materials are hand-finished in our workshop, shipping direct cuts those layers out. The buyer pays for craft and material, not distribution.
For ceremony functions and receptions, the Silver Glitter block heels, Peach Glam wedges, and Crystal Glow gold glitter thongs work well. For festivals and family functions, the ethnic embroidered juttis and luxury embroidered mules pair beautifully with sarees, lehengas, and kurta sets.
The comfort flats and daily-wear men's styles in this collection are designed for regular use with cushioned footbeds, PVC/PU soles, and hand-finished straps. The heavily embellished occasion styles (embroidered juttis, glitter mules, and block heels) are best treated as occasion pairs and rotated with your daily footwear.
Yes, a few styles do. The grey anti-slip wide-fit comfort flats specifically target wider feet. The comfort flats and orthopaedic styles are also more forgiving on width than the ethnic juttis and glitter sliders, which run closer to standard fit.
